Yeah, we need to end racism by teaching black people that none of their decisions matter and their lives will be ****ty anyway because of the man and teaching white people that none of their decisions matter because they are entitled, privileged pieces of ****. This will make the racial divide disappear in no time.

I am not even being facetious when I say I think your perspective as a German is nice because in an ideal world our choices would matter and we could each be afforded equal opportunity and it would be our hard work and determination that makes the difference but it's just so much something else here.

That's sort of the problem with entrenched power structures. They're entrenched. You can't critique them without the reality being depressing and horrific.

The US is especially ****ed up, sure, but I still think that a lot of the well-meaning liberal stuff just reinforces racial issues instead of fighting them.

I also don't think that only our choices matter. Obviously race, class, gender etc. play a big role. And they do in every country, being an immigrant I've encountered some dumb-ass ****, even in liberal Germany.
But we should still empower people to make the best of their lives, even and especially when they have limited leeway in doing that.
