Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Not at all. It is actually an internet unto itself, with proprietary ".onion" links that can only be accessed using the TOR browser [or a special website that converts them into regular internet links]. Many countries block specific internet sites. TOR allows you to use the internet, tricking your computer into thinking that you have an IP address from another country, thus bypassing the blocks.

The TOR network has nodes set up all over the world which act as IP address. The problem that I run into is that each node has several IP addresses attached to it, so when certain websites see that you have one of those IP address, they think that it is malicious or a DDOS attack and block you. But there are ways around that.

TOR eats up a lot of RAM, but is useful as a backup.

Actually, TOR was designed and created by the U.S. military, so thinking that using it will hide you from them is retarded.

Unfortunately, some people do use it for evil, just like the regular internet. There are dark web market places where you can buy pretty much anything using BitCoin [crypto-currency].

Not what I heard. I heard that people over seas use it to access news and info that's banned in their country.

Going to a friend's place to charge my phone. Thank god. Still no power but even the power company is saying it could take days.

If you're just visiting normal websites, there is no reason to use TOR. Chrome or FireFox would be much faster and use less RAM.

But like I said, it was created by the U.S. military, so there should be zero expectation of privacy, just as with most electronic devices and services.

Right now, I have a PC with Windows 10. The hard drive crashed, so I am using the live TAILS OS, which is a version of Linux. It features TOR as its web browser. I don't really have a choice in the matter, so I am thankful for it at the moment.

Then why do all the people who want to remain anonymous from their government use tor?

Is it because it's the only way to access illegal activity and it has to be paired with other software?
