I worked the morning shift, made a ****load of fresh orange juices for customers, a few banana smoothies and took a lot of drink orders. I told a boat-load of aussies (literally, they'd just finished a boat cruise) all about bus schedules and tours our hostel offers, and after work walked down the path past a group of 2000 year old ruins and to the beautiful beach 10 minutes away from me. Then I went back to our hostel, worked on my online TEFL course for a couple of hours, and now im killing time before the other girls finish their night shift so we can have our movie night.
I accidentally moved to turkey this summer. I'm currently living at a hostel at a beach resort on the southern mediterranean coast working behind the bar. In september I'll move to istanbul to teach english and save up money so i can travel the middle east next year. I meant to come home on the first of june. oops. |
Accidentally moved to Turkey. :| Your life is incredible.

I started off just traveling for a month in turkey. then i stumbled into a job at the hostel and pushed my return ticket back a month. then i decided i wanted to stay for the summer and pushed it back to the end of august. then I decided i didnt want to go home at all and cancelled my reservation for my return flight altogether. after that i heard how easy it was to get a teaching job in istanbul, and since pretty much everyone working in the town i live in now will be in istanbul over the winter, it was a pretty easy decision. so i accidentally moved to turkey.

Turkey is amazing. My family took a week long (or two, I forget) trip there and we hit up Selçuk, Cappadocia, and Istanbul. All of them were awesome and very different from each other. I strongly recommend visiting Selçuk and Cappadocia if you get the chance, they both are so much different from anything in North America.
