I forget if I've mentioned this here, but Andrew Lincoln has been filming the new Waking Dead spin-off in the area for the last few months and has been coming in during his free time and buying some records. He's probably been in close to ten times.
Anyway, he was in today and hung out for about 45 minutes and not even five minutes after he left, a dude comes in that I know and starts talking to me about TV and movies. He's telling me how he can't commit to these long ass shows anymore since he got sucked into The Walking Dead and it turned into a piece of sh*t towards the end. I was like, "Dude, do you realize how f*cking close you were to trash talking The Walking Dead wilt LITERALLY RICK GRIMES IN THE F*CKING STORE!?" We were dying. Imagine if that happened? |

I am trying to work something out relating to my job about which I could use some candid feedback. I’m unsure whether my instincts are hyper-reactive to certain situations in a way that may cause me to figuratively see things that aren’t there, or if I am right to trust my gut and intuition, which has so far served me well.
How would you react to seeing a coworker ask a child if they can “keep a secret” before sneaking them a piece of candy? Say this coworker is familiar with the child, i.e. not a stranger. How would you feel/what would your reaction be? |

But I'd be really cautious before making that accusation, as it's a pretty grave one. There's conceivably a lot of different contexts where this could all happen and it involves nothing pedophilic. How well do you know this person who said this? What happened after this was said? (Was anything else said? Did the kid wander off with the adult somewhere?) Is there anyone above you on the totem pole that you trust and could approach with these concerns without suffering personal fallout? |

How likely is it that they're just sneaking a kid candy? What was the situation like? Was it kind of casual like they weren't super worried about being seen or was this actually sneaky?
On the face of it sounds like it could be innocent but from how you've described your job it sounds like at risk kids in a boarding school environment and that right there merits an extra sense of danger and suspicion.

If your coworker is familiar with the child and you don't have any other reasons to suspect that person of being a pedo, then it sounds like your coworker was probably just giving the child a bit of candy on the sly for a treat.
A stranger giving a child candy would certainly make me suspicious, however. |

Is the co-worker older? This is such a Joe Biden type f*ckin' old guy/lady type move. I used to have an older woman come in and bring me and my partner Ring Dings and tell us not to tell our parents. We're adults but that don't stop them seniors from being bad.
