Poland has turned into a pariah within the EU, along with Hungary. I would absolutely love it if both were kicked out at some point. The EU is not just about a shared marked, it should be about shared values also and they are demonstrating lately they absolutely do NOT share EU values. So fuck 'em.

Europe Weighs Border Walls as Migrants Mass in Belarus at Poland’s Frontier

The European Union is adopting a tougher stance toward migration in response to what officials see as a hybrid attack from a close Russian ally

Yeah, it is. The sad part is that prior to 2015 you could think that most of poles are pretty open-minded and willing to drift more and more into the ideologised „west”. There was this feeling of „the right direction” or something. Or at least that’s what my parents say they felt like when reading the news, etc.
Then as my father likes to put it „the masks fell off”.

I wouldn’t remember much of these things, as I was 15 at the time Law And Justice took over; so I had better things to do than being interested in politics and stuff.

You know, in a general matter I’d like to emigrate someplace else for good. All this **** going on here isn’t really my cup of tea.
I did move to Paris for a year, but ever since the coronavirus started I’m back here. I also became very homesick in France, and I fell into a sort of a deep depression when I was out there.
My girflriend was here, all my friends, my band, the places I’ve known, etc.
I guess I have a love and hate relationship with this place. Or as the great Obywatel GC put it in his most famous song:

It’s not a carnival, but I still want to dance
And I will dance with her till the break of day
It’s not a party, but I’m still having fun
Oh, sleepless nights and sleepy days

She’s not my lover, but I still sleep with her
Even though everybody laughs at me for it
She’s always tired, always drunk
So please don’t ask me, don’t ask me why

I’m still with her
Don’t ask me why
I’m not with another girl
Don’t ask me why
I think that
There won’t be a better place for me

Don’t ask me what
Do I still see in her
Don’t ask me why
I’m not in love with someone else
Don’t ask me why I still want
To go to sleep and wake up in her

Those filthy railway stations were we always meet
These nameless masses who curse her to hell
And that bum who hums to himself
That as long as we live, She will live aswell

So don’t ask me why
(...)

He’s refering to Poland, obviously

I still plan to move though - hopefully to London - next year.

I’m not sure what do you mean by „bleed over”.

But yeah, it’s generally homegrown. The people over here were never exactly the brightest, and at the same time are being fed since primary school the resentement towards how the world always treated „us” unfair.

You know, I think you should take more things into consideration before making such bold statements.

You see, Poland (or any country for that matter) is a pretty abstract concept, a mixture of territory, government, the army, the culture and the people.

Now of course the current polish government is someone we should all agree to **** and kick out of anything, but by saying you’d „love” Poland to be kicked out of the EU you’re forgetting about the people.

Governments change, but the people have to live with previous governments decisions.
By kicking out Poland, you’d also be kicking out me, my parents, my friends, my dog, and all the other people who protest, vote against, or just do not agree with the L&J policies.

In the last presidential elections, the results were pretty much 50/50, with the morronic current president winning just by 200K votes (it was 10M to 10M200K).

So as you can see the polish society is not really sold on this **** they’re doing.
Now last year, the former PM who was the president of the European Council for 4 years came back from Brussels, as this sort of Knight in White Armor, to make „things right”. And with his return to polish politics hopefully the tides will change.

By saying „**** Poland” you’re basicaly saying „**** Mucha and the 20M like-minded people” as well as the current government and the 20M morrons who want them to rule.

So, you know, just chill out, Poland isn’t Hungary or Belarus yet. The society is just lost in the new world it wants to belong to

I mean is all the fighting in Ukraine having any kind of effect on Poland? I know Ukraine has a lot of problems with the far right being militarized and I'm curious if that's crossing the border.

Hits just keep coming...

One of my best friend's father passed away today. We were close. He had terminal cancer but we all thought he had a few more years left. One of the nicest human beings I've ever met. My friend is an active Navy Seal and we were worried something might happen while he was away but his father held on long enough for him to get back and spend about 24 hours at his bedside. He was conscious and they were able to share the final moments of his life together. I don't know what that's like. I can only imagine.

Pretty gutted right now.

bro... How come your opening quotation marks look like 2 commas... Is this how people quote things in Poland??

Trollheart 11-12-2021 01:31 PM

Exo, I'm getting really tired of how the universe is treating you. I'm actually quite angry at an abstract concept for its bias against you and how you've been treated. Wish it would pick on someone else for a change. Condolences, man. Again. :(

Exo 11-12-2021 01:35 PM

It's okay man. Things are pretty good with my family right now and I have Dana so things could definitely be worse. People around me are getting hit pretty hard, though. We're all such a closely knit group that it ripples throughout the friend core pretty hard. Thanks, by the way.
