I have quite a few different people telling me to take inventory of everything, and I'm inclined to do so, but it's still fresh and I'm still digging through things.

I'm staying at my lady friends place for now, but that same ^ insurance coverage is going to help with relocation, which there's no grey area in that aspect of it all.

I apologize if I'm being short with responses, I'm spread a bit thin right now. I just wanted to let everyone know here whats going on if my posts are sparse from here on out.

As far as itemizing, just take a video, way less effort and works just as well for insurance purposes. Losing your home has its own grief process, not dissimilar to losing an immediate family member. Be gentle with yourself, and let things move slowly for a bit. You can't outrun the loss, or the feelings it digs up, but you can keep it at bay - whatever distractions help take your mind off it until you're able to catch your breath are worth diving into.

I've had a lot of fire-related therapy sessions lol so let me know if you want me to regurgitate anything wise-sounding.

I know you've been through the struggles, and I may just take you up on that. Thank you Steph, it really means a lot.

We're gonna need pics of both you and your home for proof.

A couple of things that are clearly amazing through all of this:
  • No one was injured.
  • My fish survived even though they were in the area engulfed in flames.
  • My external hard drive (that I've been storing all of my recordings on for years and was sitting under that mess in the living room) booted right up this morning. I immediately backed it up. I thought I had lost all of it.
  • My Vox Tonelab survived after being under all of that same mess of water, drywall, and insulation. I thought that was a goner too.

Anything that was above chest height, even in the back bedrooms, was hit by the intense heat and either warped or melted, but most things that were near the floor and not in the area of the dishwasher weren't effected by the heat, so other than smoke damage, they're salvageable if I'm willing to put up with the smell for a while. This accounts for why my fish were ok and my electronic gadgets survived. My Uke and PRS were simply victims of fire fighting. They had to ventilate to keep the place from becoming an oven where everything above and below just cooks.

Oh Plankton I am so so sorry. I know of this feeling we lost just our Bedroom with a fire and of course as as toddler my so called mother let me got up in flames from an unguarded fire...left me fearsome of fires for a long time.
A whole beautiful home that feels like too much now...Just take comfort from those around you and give yourself time...Time you have.
We have room for you but that would be no solution.
Just know we are thinking about you at lot...

Thank you dear. I appreciate that, and if I had a ticket to the other side of the world I'd more than likely be knocking at your door.

Yes take a video. Insurance Companies the world over are much the same I would think.... We got cut back when we got burgled, so unfair as the claim was well listed and they said our cover should have been more, so the percentage they decided had to be cut back what we would receive......They are in business to make money..Remember that Plankton my friend.

Plankton, that sucks dude. You've got my sympathy. Your place was beautiful, and I'm sure it will be once again, but in the meantime, try to keep a level head.
