I don’t know what particular social issue one is downplaying by pointing out that some of the unintended consequences of globalization (an Irish guy fantasizing about law enforcement in the southern United States instead of parking his mental resources somewhere closer to home) are very funny - but if it will get me recognized as not a “lefty”, I’ll downplay it some more.
