Well I think it's up to their discretion, but what I'm saying is that the mindset would be, I think: Black guy=drugs/weapons search. Black woman=try to cop a feel and look all big and authoritarian, White man=Do what you can to help your white brother and white woman=try to get her number and hit on her but without making it too obvious cause a white woman's complaint against you will be taken seriously by the white police force.

A carless life can be uncomfortable in many places. I live in a city that has plenty of buses (average wait time: 10 mins). Unfortunately, they have radial routes, so people are forever doing two sides of a triangle for what could be a short journey:-



No one has mentioned Uber which has been very successful here. I wonder how widespread that is in the US ?

(For years, I chose between bus or bicycle to suit my trip. Now, like jwb, I have a car that occasionally leaves me stranded.)

My guess is that he doesn't have a valid license, insurance, etc..

I drove with a suspended license for years, but it was due to failed emissions, which is a lesser non-detainable offense, but after 9 years I got pulled over taken into custody again (this would be the 5th time) and decided to finally get it corrected. About $5k and a bunch of red tape later I finally made it valid. I had to do the written, driving, and the eye tests, which took 2 days to finally complete after getting all of my necessary paper work, and it was fun using my friends Saturn Sky for the driving one. Then I got a speeding ticket a few months after. lol

These days I drive a 410HP Ram Rebel that I've been slowly working on and there's a supercharger going in sometime down the road, along with some long tube headers and a custom tune. That'll get me over the 500HP point but hot dam she's ****ing fast right now. I don't talk much about it here, since it would be like talking to myself, but I do belong to a few vehicle related forums where I ask questions and get some ideas.

I keep edging over into my Dad's footsteps, which was Art, Cars, and Music, in that order. The apple don't fall far, so I've learned to just roll with it.

Also, Uber is huge around here. A few of my friends make a few $$'s as drivers.

Being white has definitely come in handy but it's not some sort of invincibility cloak. If a cop finds you with your car broken down they're probably going to stop and question you.

As plankton intuited I'm not street legal yet plus yes if a cop smells weed they can use that as probable cause to search your vehicle.

What's funny is i have these giant get vaccinated signs in my trunk i was planning on doing something with. I think it'd be interesting to see what the cops would've made of that.

I had two cops pointing their guns in my face at 18 all rosy cheeked and literally a pink bow in my hair, for rolling through a stop sign and into my driveway.

White privilege means this didn’t happen to me *because* of my skin color. Not that I am untouchable.
