Yeah what's wrong with you? He performs a valuable function. Heart attacks don't just happen by themselves, you know!

What, do you rub two sticks together to cook the burgers or what?

Someone has to put the burgers on the grill and that's your function. Someone has to handle the boxes that go through the machine and that's mine.

There's like 3 stations at the machine... One person feeding the boxes into the machine, one person strapping the folded boxes together with a strapper, and one person running the load former which builds the strapped boxes into a pallet sized unit.

Most of it is just repetitive menial labor... Then occasionally something with the machine goes wrong that you have to fix, and then between orders you have to set each station to the specifications of that order. It's fascinating work, I assure you. Give it a few decades and I'm sure it will be completely automated and require only one operator for the entire machine.

Sounds like my job requires more intelligence tbh.

I can assure you it doesn't. I've worked fast food before. It's miserable work but not very complicated.

This is more or less the same sorta deal except it pays more because it's more fast paced. You have to be able to keep up with the machine. A lot of people can't/won't.

That's physical. Not mental.

... take my word for it that it's a bit of both.

I'm not saying you need more intelligence to be a grunt worker at a factory than a fast food worker... I'm saying they're interchangeable. Low skilled work. All you need is a GED in either case.

Like for instance with the load former you have to do basic math and measure cardboard of the right size to protect the boxes from the straps when the unit gets strapped. And you have to create these sheets of cardboard just based on the paper work and d the dimensions it gives. Sometimes which don't exactly match the actual boxes. It's not insanely complicated but it will trip the average temp worker up.

And in order to move up requires more trouble shooting skills than your average wage slave has. There are a lot of things that can go wrong with a machine. Hence like I said I'm milking the lack of help situation to learn everything I can about the machine so I can get bumped up to operator and earn more money.

They are probably equally difficult, mentally and physically [and don’t discount the mental and emotional labor each job requires - Charles might deal with **** customers but the mental anguish of food service is lesser than that of the mental anguish of talking yourself into another 12 hour shift doing the same repetitive tasks with rare variance... at least with people there’s room to be surprised/entertained] but bk is definitely the worse of two evils purely due to the customer service aspect.

It's definitely nastier. Like I said I've worked both and I'd say most BK workers wouldn't cut it. Most of the people the temps send us wash out within weeks. If you think it's so easy then you can easily get a job doing this kinda **** and you will make like twice what you make now.
