Yes, the man vs woman dynamic he describes is what happens with me vs my family

I know what you're getting at, but that's not really fair. In the first place I'm just a bit of an anomaly. And apart from that, society tried to condition me to be girly, but it also conditioned me to view the way I am as masculine, and during most of my life (when I didn't try to be a proper girl) I tried to conform to masculine norms just like most guys do.

Tbh I am just asking.. I don't have it worked out myself I am just trying to understand.
But intuitively my first instinct is that it's a common and easy narrative to just put the blame on societal expectations but then there also just is personality traits that might come somewhat naturally or easily depending on who you are. Ftr I don't think you're that much of an anomaly. I've met plenty of tomboyish lesbians. It's just an interesting question.. Are they conditioned to be tomboys or do they just see two basic options (boyish vs girly) and pick the one that appeals more to them? And if so, is that any different from the boys who do the same? You can say there shouldn't just be two options.. and maybe there shouldn't..... But what does the third or fourth option look like?. Presumably just a mish mesh of aspects of the first two options? |

And I was thinking about tomboys being an anomaly, but it's true that that is a considerable group that I fit into. But yeah, I've been wondering about these quesions my whole life and I'm not sure either, it's fascinating. I do think we're taught that there are two options and have to pick, and that in reality it's a spectrum, or a mish mesh (that sounds more fun actually). When I was a kid I thought I wanted to be a boy because everything I wanted was 'for boys'. When I finally realised I didn't have to choose an extreme and could be a mish mesh I could feel comfortable about it.
