Alright I'm not any good at condolences but as someone with few friends I'm terrified of losing the ones I do have and this song has always hit me hard because of that. Maybe keep it in the backpocket for later when this isn't so raw but... yeah I think it's beautiful and maybe it'll be cathartic at some point. I don't know.

Thanks guys. You all would have loved him if you'd have met him.

So sorry to hear that you've lost such a close friend, Plankton.

Hanna's hurting too. She used to go with me to his house for our jam sessions and sometimes play drums. He called her the Little Metronome. The text she sent me last night about her friendship with him is very touching and heartwarming. He was a big part of our little family.
I was afraid of that. Send her our love and tell her we're all thinking of both of you. Maybe some time down the line you can compose a tribute to him; right now I know that's the furthest thing from your thoughts. Will you get to go to the funeral at least? We're locked down here still (probably till March) so it's doubly hard for anyone who has someone who passes. I know you said you got to say goodbye, in person, which is something to be thankful for, so at least if you don't get to pay your respects you've already done that. Still, I hope you get to attend, if you want to. It must hurt like hell, even worse in these times.

Like I say, cliche though it is, stay strong. If nothing else, Hannah needs you, big man.

Sending love your way.

A bit of an update. We'll be having a small funeral for now, and then a celebration of his life when it's safe to do so. I was asked to come by yesterday by his daughter (she's such a strong independent soul, like her Dad). We sorted through a few things and every time she handed me something to remember him by, it was all I could do to keep from just losing it. There's a shoebox with about 50 cassettes and mini-discs of our recordings from the 90's somewhere that I'm looking forward to revisiting when she comes across it. All of his grandchildren were there and they all loved listening to the stories I had to tell, and I had a chance to sit in with one of them on drums yesterday, and he blew me away. They all want me to carry on his memory and stop by to jam every now and then. Who am I to refuse such a heart warming request? I really needed that.

I can't thank everyone here enough for your well wishes and support. It means the world.

Plank, I am so sorry and sad to hear of the loss of your dear friend. It’s rare to have such a longtime, devoted friend - and you were very deserving of his love and vice versa. My deepest condolences to you and sweet Hanna. I hope you’ll continue to find comfort in each other during this sad time. I’m glad you were able to visit with his daughter and grandchildren and share your memories yesterday. Hopefully you’ll have more of those jam sessions in the future – I’m sure your friend would have loved that.

Thank you so very much ribbons. He was loved and respected so much by so many. It was very cathartic to sit and tell those stories to those little bright eyed faces.

I'll respond properly later; right now I'm just kind of tearing up at your description. You're a stronger man than I, my friend.
