oh, and, yeah (I can't believe I have to say this - oh, maybe I do, considering...)
sometimes, there are things that cost too much for what they are or do.

"Yeah, my phone is worth it 'cause it does shit",
but anyone else buys something that does more
than the basic:"OH THAT"S cRaZy!!!!"

to be fair I think you're taking out the nuance of the argument a bit. Some extra features are more useful or worth spending money on than others. I think a 90 dollar kettle is a perfect example of something that costs too much for what it does, but to each his own

That may not be true. Remember all the Brits and Irish who emigrated to there. Hell, you're part Irish (what part I have no idea; probably the one that controls drinking)... Anyway it's not just the UK and Ireland who call them hobs.
