Nope. Cocaine had me in her clutches for years. I'm so ****ing thankful for having never tried opiates. We wouldn't be having this conversation.

Nah. Plank isn't haughty about it and doesn't pretend like it's an easy la di da thing to do. That's the difference for me

I've been through quite a few, actually. The one you're describing sounds a lot like a few of the ones I went through, but they were all there to help if you wanted it. If you are willing to go to any length to get clean, it doesn't matter what it "feels" like or what you think people see you as. Who tf cares. Focusing on those 'perceived' negatives only diminishes the positives. I just wanted to straighten my life out, not make an impression on the people around me. You have to either be brave enough to have that mindset, or you have to be at the end of your rope. I was the latter.

I've been through homelessness, many years of drug addiction, many rehabilitation systems, jail, and prison. Things gradually changed for the better when I finally stopped playing the victim and started taking responsibility for my actions. Finding out why I wanted to self medicate was a big part of that process, and you can do that anywhere.

it helped me to an extent but after a while the petty politics and blatant exploitation got to me and I said **** it

I held my tongue long enough. You try to show respect to the little bit of authority a guy has and he takes your kindness for a weakness. Hope he catches Covid tbh.

Missed this comment. Thank you!

How 'bout a rock-in solo? It's cold out, brrr, and I'll play it so low no one can hear it.

It does suck having to wade through those broken souls. Totally understandable.

This guy is staff. Been there like 8 years. Still there making **** wages and living with 8 other guys. His whole life and identity is his petty position in the program. Completely institutionalized. The place is just a work camp tbh.

They have one cook there that was in prison 25 years for murder and has been at the program 15 years since. Completely institutionalized. He broke one guys arm with a hammer while working there and they covered it up and forced the guy to drop the charges lol.

25 years and then any form of employment that keeps you fed and with a bed is pretty goddamn commendable

Not saying he wasn’t a prick. I don’t know about that but that’s a pretty good comeback imo

It’d be hard not to end up homeless or back in prison
