And yeah, it's a little hard to grasp that that happened in Europe only 25 years ago.
Was Yugoslavia already dissolved - it seems like it was all a part of the same cluster****.

Curious question, I did a bit of googling just now (in my mind it was clearly dissolved by the time hostilities started), but actually, it was a little more complicated, some skirmishes started in Croatia since March 91' while the declaration of independence was made in June (which was then placed on a moratorium for 3 months), while a full blown war started after July 91'.

Similar to Bosnia, they declared independence from Yugoslavia in March 92' and the official hostilities started in April.

Same clusterfuck but are considered separate civil wars.

I’m so thrilled with today’s success! For years I’ve had two cheap record shelves which were collapsing, so I’ve been stalking sales listings for quality cube shelves for months. Today my efforts paid off and I scored a matching pair of the most-trusted units on the market - the Ikea Expedit/Kallax shelves locally for a fraction of their normal price.

They’re usually $238.98 for a pair of the shelves with shipping from Canada, but I scored both of these just-like-new for $50 apiece already assembled and just 5 miles from my door! They were an absolute perfect fit to replace the portion of my collection which occupied the former shelves.

Extra special thanks go out to a dear friend in town who offered his truck and his strength to haul them home in the pouring rain. I am SO GRATEFUL for his help! It was far more work than it looks like but at last the project is complete!

Here they are in action in my listening room!

I was downtown and there was some guy with a maga hat walking around trying to tell people to vote Trump and he came up to me and I thought he was going to talk politics but he just started rambling about the book of Revelation and the whore of Babylon. I couldn't really understand what he was getting at so I was just like "what's wrong with the whore of Babylon?" and he just looked at me scornfully and said "yeah and I bet you like Queen Elizabeth the 2nd too!" and walked off.

Sounds like he might've been a former LaRouchie turned Trumper.

Actually went to the park this morning. Took the dog. Looked at the sea.

80% of the park is closed for hurricane repairs. It has an incredible bird watching tower but it was damaged. They get right on building it back. Could be a job opportunity even though I have zero carpentry / construction skills. I might shoot a resume over later.

Construction work is about the best you can do in Florida as a low skilled worker. At least that's how it was in south Florida. No industry or manufacturing at all down there. The only other decent (legal) hustle is if you're an extrovert and reasonably attractive (preferably female) then you can make bank at some of the bars and restaurants down there on tips alone. Otherwise you're **** outta luck. Better either have a degree/skill or a plug for cheap coke.

Construction is hard work though if you're the unskilled/inexperienced variety. Lot of grunt work, exposure to the elements etc. At least it's not summer. Good luck.
