Sam Antonino is a bigger city than Austin lol

You were talking about moving to the country I.E. a small town

I'm saying that it's not at all a myth that it's easier to survive there. That's exactly why so many transplants are moving from other parts of the country to NC and other parts of the Sunbelt. Cause it's literally easier to live here if you're poor. Otherwise I would've moved to California or NY long ago.

i could barely afford the 500$ rent in Florida even with my job at Walmart that paid me 10$ /hr

But up here in NC I can easily land a job for 16$ / hr and with less rent to pay. Explain to me how that isn't better

Where did you live in Florida?

So in other words you lived in Georgia.

I lived in south Florida. Miami. Ft Lauderdale. West Palm. Aka civilization. Not as hipster as Austin but definitely more populous.

Florida is a big state and south Florida is distinct but Jacksonville ain’t GA.

Even if you live close to the Alabama or Georgia line the culture is different, and shockingly even more deranged.

Once you see that sunshine state sign you’re in some sort of weirdness. People here do say they’re going to Florida when they’re heading farther south though so I know what you mean. But I also know Florida is weird and ****ed every inch of it.

right I've never lived in Jacksonville so I'm just talking **** but I've been there and to me it's a different state.

We've gotten side tracked anyway my only point is it's definitely easier to live here than down there. Transport is only 1 variable. I don't have hard data either but anecdotally I meet tons of transplants here from up north or other states and most of them say the same thing. Cost of living is driving people here. There's no other reason to live here other than maybe the weather.

not compared to not making enough money to live on even if you did have transportation

Like I said I'm going on experience and anecdotes... But the south seems to be growing and getting tons of transplants from other states as opposed to vice versa.. So that clearly outlines the trend. People are moving where it's affordable and they can more easily have a comfortable standard of living.

You could see the same sort of thing in south Florida back in the 80s and 90s. But as it grew, housing prices went up and the cost of living with it. Until eventually it became costly to live there and growth slowed and now you even see people leaving. The same thing will happen here eventually. But right now it's still in the growth spurt stage.

Box factory is eating my life away

Gotta work 12 hours tomorrow. After 5 days of regular 8 hour shifts. And apparently this is the slow season. In the summer they work 6 days of 12 hr shifts. 72 hours. **** that. Imma milk this pay for as long as I can. The pay is decent. Imma milk it till I can't manage or till I find another job. But I'm starting to remember what real work is. **** real work. **** I miss taking a dog for a walk while listening to podcasts.

Might start growing mushrooms again or something. I dunno how to invest. But I need to put my money to work.
