I sat around on Sat-urday in the garage and driveway just looking over the truck and giving it a bit of some detailing. I found quite a few small scratches and I just happened to have bought a color matched paint pen for it so I went about filling them in. I then turned to the scrape that had been there on the drivers side rear view mirror since I purchased it. It's made of some kind of colored plastic compound. I grabbed a scouring pad and it took the imprinted white paint off nicely, but while I was doing that someone pointed out a possible small scratch in the black portion of my 2 tone (silver/black) paint job. So without thinking, I looked at it and thought it was just some gunk that got flung up on it so I used the scouring pad to see if I could get it off...
Let's stop right here.
Using a scouring pad on automotive paint is probably the stupidest thing a person could ever do to a paint job. Sometimes I just don't have any words for how dumb I can be.
I'll be needing to get some Scratch X and hope for the best.
