I know my father fairly well actually, I've mentioned it briefly before: he doesn't feel like a father, just an acquaintance. In that capacity I get along with him, I don't excuse his desicion at all but I don't feel any personal grudge. I've been fortunate with my weird little family of women, I never felt deserted by him. The funny thing is that I take after him so it's very weird to see parts of yourself strongly mirrored in someone you aren't close too

You're lucky. I met my dad once and he's a weasely **** I'm glad I wasn't exposed to as an impressionable kid. Oddly enough though within twenty minutes of meeting him he urinated in a parking lot so we have that in common.

I know I am. Your dad sounds like an ******* btw (mine is too in a way of course. I think him leaving, even though it wrong morally, turned out to be for the better)
