You asked me a future tense question.
I answered that things will continue in
a similar manner with slight modifications.

Do those slight modifications allow for the continuation of mankind?

That's kinda broad and unknowable. Sure, OK, why not...

I wasn't making any kind of grand statement previously.
I was simply saying that things change.
Really, that's all I'm saying.

So even though the shop is closed, we're still buying collections (safely) and on Tuesday I bought records from two people around my age. Girl and Guy. They definitely thought they were worth hundreds. I paid them $80. Today I get a phone call from a woman who claims that her daughter stole her record collection from her house. Daughter is a heroin addict. I told her to come pick them up.

She just left. She looked so tired. We talked a bit and I shared my experience with my brother. She looked so relieved that somebody knew her pain but also just exhausted. She asked if she had to pay us back the money and I told her not to worry about it, that she's got more on her plate, and she said she'd try to get the $80 back from her daughter and come back with it. I said that'd be nice but don't worry about it. It's just money.

I brought the records out to her car and she had her husband with her and in the backseat was a three year old boy. She said "That's her son. Well, he's more like our son now." She kinda gave me a thank you touch on my shoulder and I just wanted to hug her because I know that pain. But, you know...virus stuff.

I just went inside and cried.

How sure are you it wasn’t a scam?

95% sure it was not a scam. They're from sussex county which is basically the Ozarks of the tri-state area. Drugs from Newark and Paterson go up NJ-23 and fuel Port Jervis and the surrounding areas. They were driving a nice car and were dressed nice. Don't think she needed that $80 but her daughter probably did. Even though the woman had a mask on,it was all over her face. I know that face. She opened up after I started talking about my brother. It was either the long con or I just found the sussex county Meryl Streep.

You’re a good dude. Losing $80 kinda sucks the ding dong.

Money isn't important. That lady didn't have much left. Daughter stole most of her valuables.

Wait... so... the daughter stole the record collection and the $80 but they weren't the records the lady gave you so she just wanted to have those records back cause otherwise she wouldn't have any records? That's as much as I can piece together from that.
