But about this argument: it does not take control and direction of a disease to notice that it kills others and not you, and to abuse that observation. I don't know if this is what happened, but even if it didn't the genocide was horrible enough

Lol, not even close. People from Spain, Portugal, England, etc. came to the North American continent. They traded goods and food. Dr. Fauci wasn't around to tell people to observe social distancing. These simple actions guaranteed that smallpox was going to spread. There was no malice or ill intent behind those particular actions (other stuff is a different story). The fact that individual racists wanted to weaponize smallpox several centuries later doesn't change this.

Other than Europeans staying in Europe and nobody leaving their countries of origin, how would you have changed the course of history to avoid these kinds of disease outbreaks?

There were still around 15 million cases of smallpox every year circa 1967 or so. So I guess the "genocide" is slowing down?

Behind people just coming to a new place? No. But that is one sliver of the story that you are choosing to focus on in order to perpetrate the same kind of cowardly white washing of history as Holocaust deniers and Confederate apologists.

Pretending this is about disease outbreaks makes you a pussy. If Europeans had come to the Americas with open hearts desiring nothing more than to trade and build relations with the Americans but tragically caused all of these deaths through disease and then tried to help rather than swallowing all of their land this would be a much different conversation.

It's clearly noted that while the effectiveness of the infected blankets that they absolutely did give to natives is questionable, the massacres and starvation caused to the natives was extremely integral in the spread of smallpox.
