How do you reliable

The Batlord 02-14-2020 08:32 PM

I show up to work. I mean I've been coming to this site reliably for 9 years. I'm a creature of habit.

I mean I can do that too but from bed. It's the getting out of bed/house that's the trouble for me. But I am on a good streak since returning from leave.

Getting out of bed and showing up to work has never been a problem for me. I can despise the act of getting up and showering and ****ting and going to work but still do it reliably. I only ever call out if I'm legit sick cause I'm from the South where I know that floating the idea of a mental health day would be tantamount to saying I can't come to work cause I'm gay. I'll spend every moment in desperate resentment but that resentment will become a part of my identity that does not become a reason to not show up. Just a reason to not want to wake up.

trying to get on the overnights so I can listen to music at least

Being able to listen to whatever you want is huge. To me it’s a game changer and a life changer. Without control over what I listen to there were days when I would have sooner killed myself than gone to work. Right now for 90% of the day I don’t have to communicate with anyone and I can keep earbuds or whatever the **** headphones are called these days in BOTH ears blocking out all other sounds. It removes like 80% of the suffering. It still sucks the dong to have to go to work though. But having complete agency over one of your senses is huge. I go to work with a fresh playlist everyday.

Oh you live in Austin now? Isn't it terribly expensive there nowadays?

Have a diabetic co-worker that's annoying enough to make me hope he loses a toe.
