I don’t think it’s correct that other animals don’t dwell on death. Trying to stay alive is the same damn thing.

I'm sure there are plenty of animals that are much much smarter than we think they are.

Like octopuses.

I read a study where they gave octopuses MDMA to see how it affects their social behavior. The first dosage was too much and they started rapidly changing colors. I'm envious of who got to witness the octopus equivalent of a light show.

I doubt it.

If you only define consciousness through the lense of your own limited human experience, maybe.
