Also, keep ALL receipts and docs for anything house related. A good tax guy will find all kinds of ways to minimize how much income you're taxed on each year.

Even 15 years into our mortgage we were getting thousands back from the gov. each year.

The government loves people who own property.
Just ask Trump!
Oh okay, good ****. Appreciate the advice!

Also, if the home values start to drop in your area you may be able to depreciate your home value and write that off as a loss.

This is the #1 legal way that Trump avoids paying taxes. He writes off millions a year off in losses on all of his properties.

Interesting to keep in mind. However the area we are moving into is growing tremendously and home values are skyrocketing. Our $180,000 home sold for $130,000 just 8 years ago! They did a lot of updates but that's still a huge jump in price

We bought our home in 1998 for $172K, right before the bubble and then subsequent 07-08 crash. Fortunately things rebounded and we sold early last year for $490K - when all was said and done me and Linda each walked away with $140K tax free cash in our pocket.

I can't stress enough about finding a good tax person. You just made the biggest investment you'll probably make in your life. Put it in good hand$.

Which was accepted last night!

So pending inspection, we are officially home owners
Congrats. Now as Batty would surely say, rent it out as a brothel and start raking in that cash!

I wish I had the money to think about this stuff.

I did sweet talk the temp agency into giving me a good position that's only a thirty minute walk from where I'm living.

She was kind of condescending telling me that the winter is coming and she doesn't think I'll be able to walk the 30 minutes in the cold and I reminded her that they had me working at the airport where I had a 2 hour and 6 mile walk home every night in the cold.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

I stole that from a Buttress shirt.

She had that, which is awesome, and another one that said, "Life is absurd, I'm gay as ****".

Probably should, but won't need it here. I'll enjoy the 30 minute walks, to be honest.

It's really weird how excited I am for another bull**** warehouse job but I'm really really happy that they let me take this.
