And when I was visiting San Antonio i was told it's the fastest growing city in America. Which means tons of construction. Which means tons of low level grunt work jobs that pay at least 15/hr

You don't need connections to find that kind of work. But it is definitely much harder than working retail. It will put some hair on your chest.

You can either be lazy and work the minimum wage shift(retail/fast food/gas stations etc) or you can work harder and make some more money doing grunt work

Besides that... The other options become more and more fringe

If you are good with people and dependable enough you might make better money on tips waiting/bartending etc

Or if your background is clear enough and you go through the necessary hoops/training, you can be a mailman/truck driver etc and get a decent enough salary for no degree.

Or you can think even more outside the box. Gay porn. Drug dealer. Identity theft. Etc.

Do what I do. Buy books, dvds, cds, records from the public dirt cheap and then price them below Amazon/discogs.
