So yesterday on the way home from work we were told not to go to the main facility of the program to eat cause the cops were there. I was figuring it was probably a fight or something like that.

Come to find out someone who just came in fresh off the street left the program cause he didn't wanna forfeit his phone.

Was gone a couple hours, then came back to the dorm to talk to one of the staff members. The cops surrounded the building and told him to come out over a loud speaker. In the few hours he was gone he apparently robbed a couple stores and shot someone. They lived. ****in maniac.

You live in a place with “main facility”?

Nah I live in a halfway house with roommates. But since I work through a contract for the program they still give us food.

Well, with the right attitude and a strong fortitude to do my best and be the best me I can be maybe I too (or even our aimless and goalless comrade, bat) could, seeing as to how hard work pays off, also enjoy a sampling of your glorious pie in the sky achievements.

I could move out but it's cheap rent so it's helping me pay off my debts and get back on my feet.

This is basically what's happening here: when someone like Ant or DWV tell you that you can improve things for yourself, they don't understand cause they're not in your position.

When someone in your position or lower actually tries to improve themselves you try to drag them back down, because they aren't confirming your self pitying thesis that your misery is inevitable.
