Anal **** songs are like Onion articles where the headline outshines the content.

Oh so they're not really trying to be musicians? It's just a parody thing?

They were as serious as any other grindcore band. Pig Destroyer is a top ten all time metal band contender.

Nah, it's just that their sense of humour is a lot stronger than their somewhat run of the mill formless grindcore.

Oh. I guess it's just a genre thing. There's a lot of metal I can't listen to that people say is good.

It's similar to jazz... I had to train my ears actually learn how to enjoy Coltrane etc. It didn't come instantly. But I still can't really enjoy some of his later work and the free jazz stuff ornette Coleman etc. I just lose interest when it turns too random.

You just have to familiarize yourself with the musical language so that you can get a better feel for what the genre is trying to accomplish. Then the randomness becomes more coherent, fun, and surprising.

Coltrane never recorded a single random measure of music. Not being defensive just FYI to anyone interested in understanding his music.

Jazz is fun partly because it has infiltrated and crossed over with every other genre at some point or another. There's a melodic freedom to the "core" ideas that started to crystallize in the early 50's and then mutate. It's never really stopped.
