I would try it if it was free

Never seen a shrink in my life

Closest I came was detox. They asked a few questions then tried to prescribe me lithium for depression and some sleeping pills. I don't trust them so I never filled it.

I tried cbt in therapy right before I quit teaching.

My therapist said that everything she listened to me gripe about was fundamentally true but I was very disproportionate about how I reacted to it. She also said I’m way above average at reading situations like with the same skills you use to navigate a difficult novel or text but I amplify the negative to very intense degrees. That’s why she was saying to make lists of positive things.

I know full well what my apathy is and how all-encompasing it is. Pointing it out does nothing. The point isn't that you're wrong or right or whatever, the point is that I think you're clutching for something to drag yourself out of this that is in fact just disguised self hate.

I have no money for any of that. I'd love CBT but this country doesn't even provide for regular health insurance let alone mental health insurance.

There was some action figure in my friends back yard and i thought about stealing it cause I wanted it but ultimately chickened out cause I imagined it would suck to have someone steal your toy. By the time I was 13 I was breaking into unsecured cars.

Ideally then I would start a regimen of treatment and they check again periodically to see if it’s working. That’s how all mental health treatments should work imo.

And not entirely. That’s just one thing that I think should be free and standard. It doesn’t mean I’m saying that every disorder can be identified or monitored this way. But whatever the disorder, imo, getting eyes on your brain should be standard.

No, it's like I said. I'm behind cause I put myself behind. But I've made progress since I decided to start taking action. Nothing will change the damage I've done. Cause I shouldn't be where I am at 32. That doesn't mean all my future choices are irrelevant, which is effectively what your trying to argue.
