You're making this into a "He believes this because it makes him feel better." bull**** argument again. It's a lot like Christians who say that atheists are just telling themselves god doesn't exist to feel better about sinning.
No, believing I'm different from a pool ball doesn't make me feel better. Believing in free will, a stance I never took, wouldn't make me feel better. Whether or not free will exists is completely irrelevant and it does not give existence any sort of objective importance that you think it does.
