Had an awesome weekend. Went fishing on Saturday and didn't catch anything but debris but we rented a boat and that was fun. Friends got me dinner for my bday Saturday and took me to a spot with the best fish and chips I've ever had. Met up with a friend yesterday in LA, picked up some fire Ethiopian food, then danced our asses off at a really sick jazz show (Phil Ranelin headlined) with a couple of jazz bands and a drum and dance group. Smoked joints with Phil after the show and hung out with a nice girl with an afro. I don't remember anything beyond that but apparently we also went to some industrial club and I broke up a fight between strangers at a McDonald's. I think I'm gonna play hookey tomorrow to see if I can keep a good thing rolling.

i cant imagine people dancing to jazz, maybe dance music but the jazz dancing had to be a sight to see. the fishing must have been fun, i dont fish but i know its fun some how for people who do. frownland breaking up a fight? so you are modding in real life

All monies are safely back where they belong, for anyone keeping track like me.

Another prison tournament in the books. I had more fun this time, since I got to play and not just run ****. Nice tight little layout with some OB on top of roofs and over the walls. I almost aced, but my disc hit basket and fell right on the pin, so I won a CTP (closest to the pin) on a blind, over razor wire shot.

A lot of the area's in the prison are open for tours so we got to explore quite a bit of it all. I didn't take any photo's this time, so here's some random pics from other people who were there that did:

Disc Golf courses on abandoned prison grounds is one of the weirdest yet coolest concepts I've ever seen.

yeah id totally play there. i missed the chain things at first but thats an interesting way to turn something negative into a positive by making a course from it

The Historical Society has been working a lot of fund raising events there like concerts and daily tours, so instead of just being a money sucking plot of land, it's generating revenue now. Our little disc golf tournament was pretty much a fund raiser with all proceeds going to the new Pro Gold course across the street. We already have the funds for 18 Mach III baskets, and we're just about where we should be for tee pads and signs after Sunday.

How does grounds maintenance work when most courses are free to use?

All the targets (baskets) belong to a local pro shop, and the tee signs were created by the event organizer. When we were first given the green light last year we had a volunteer crew out there to clear out all the overgrowth, and since then it's been kept up by the revenue generated through tours going through the Park District. And in a general sense, the courses are maintained by the parks department? I'm intrigued by disc golf courses now since I've actually been to one. I mean, we just walked in and there were people drinking openly even though it's a park and you usually can't do that in parks. It's like a little bubble of awesome and I hope there's steps in place at these courses to maintain them so they don't start drifting back into nature.
