I just had a nice pleasant conversation with an sweet older woman about music and then towards the end, while still maintaining her polite and kind demeanor, referred to Asian and African American people as "Orientals" and "Negros". That backwards ass way of thinking is still right under the surface of some people. It's weird. I don't particularly think this woman meant any ill will towards other people but it's funny how the vernacular and mindset she had was still so sixty years ago. We still have some time to go until that sh*t just isn't a thing anymore.

That sweet older woman probably wore tie dye and hip huggers as a teen and was a part of the youth movement that was suppose to change the world.
So many of my friends morphed into their parents as they got older. Sad. |
Oriental is possibly not ill willed but no one under 105 says negro unless they’re making a point

Negro. The Other N-Word. :D

That was founded in 1944 and they've been trying to steer towards 'United Fund' but their UNCF logo is too entrenched.
