No, typically when you work with a crew if one person doesn't pull their weight it forces everybody else to work harder.

Unless “the crew” simply does less work and leaves what’s not done undone. The lazy one is the only worker with the balls to take back some the life stolen from him by his employer. Workers who frown on his laziness are jealous cowards.

Until your boss threatens to fire you because you didn't cover for your lazy coworker's incompetence.

If Hitler were still alive today he'd be 1488-years-old.

That’s why I pointed out it’s cowardice.

Taking a small rest on a hot day doing hard labor isn't even slacking. Your coworker is just being a dick head. Probably the dude that works extra hard just to bitch about people not working as hard as him. OH might be an idiot about calling lazy people brave, but the dude that goes above and beyond for general labor jobs that hardly pay you and don't take care of you are ****ing morons especially if they expect the extra effort from others.

But, to answer the question of why anybody on an hourly wage gets mad when somebody else slacks it's typically because they end up getting stuck with doing the undone labor or they get harassed and potentially fired for not living up to the company's standards.

No, just smart. Especially if it's good and stable work. The lazy ones get replaced fairly quickly when they hold back production. They're not brave, they're usually inconsiderate idiots. I've never seen a lazy person stand up to authority when called out on it, they typically shift the blame or make excuses.

Fair enough on the last point.

Although earlier you were talking about a very long shift. I personally refuse to do that and not in a weaselly way but very directly.

... and I’ve been fired ...

but I have to say if everyone stood their ground at work like I do working conditions would be much better and laborers would be in command

so from my perspective working so hard you have nothing left at the end of the day is a kind of cowardice and slacking is by comparison revolutionary

I didn't mind it that much because A. We haven't really been working full shifts. B. I wanted that sweet O.T. money. C. I no showed for two weeks straight and they still gave me a full paycheck. I've had the conversation with them that I'm not going to be there if I'm going through really bad mood swings because I'm not provided with insurance that covers the cost of treatment for either of my disorders. I've drawn my lines. I got away with it because they know my worth, though. If you really want to be revolutionary you have to let them know that you actually are worth a **** prior to telling them no.

Edit: I no call and no showed for a week and when I came back I didn't get a lecture or a penalty I got the "We thought you were quitting, we're so glad that you didn't It's good to have you back." That was back in September when I was going through that whole moody over sensitive phase.
