Today at work a young sous chef worked next to my station. I dislike working around him because he never says please and thank you and it’s the culture of our restaurant to use a lot politeness words when you have to ask for something, bump into someone, need to get by- whatever. I guess it varies from restaurant to restaurant but where I work the chef isn’t really asking but he’ll say “Occult please get me two pans of grouper” and he’s the only one who just says “get me two pans of grouper” and then no thank you when you get it. He also never joins in on the joking around. The general take on humor is the more vulgar the better. “Occult can’t get it up unless you stick a tilapia in his ass” but this guy never once made or laughed at a joke. I will freely admit that I shouldn’t be bothered by his personality and it’s really just me being a judgmental dick. But I can’t help it. I can’t relax around him. Usually, he bounces around a lot so it’s no big deal but today it was like he was on me like glue. After the lunch rush, when I usually go home - I wanted out of there so bad I barely cleaned my station. I just wanted to get the **** away from him.
