Either way good luck and props. Nobody at my job ever says a word to power if they get scheduled for 8 hour+ shifts just cause it's assumed that an employer has a right to your life and that's something that needs to be shot in the head. ****ing managers get well plus 8 hour shifts regularly and I don't understand why they consider it okay.

If I ever cave and become a manager I'm gonna make it a point no matter how much it pisses me off that if someone just calls out cause they don't wanna work that shift for whatever reason that I'll never write them up. You have a right to your life, and work assuming differently is ****ing authoritarianism. And if that means I get taken advantage of then that's a drop in the bucket of misery caused by modern work standards. I can always make them cut onions next time they actually show up.
The official rule is you have to be dismissed by a manager so the length of your shift can theoretically be forever. I’m plus 90 days now though and I don’t think they could escape paying me unemployment for leaving after 8 hours. I’ve been on unemployment a pretty lot and I never got denied.

What pisses people off about me is I don’t play the I had to do your work **** management uses to pit us against each other. Like Occult I had to do your work because you were out. Idgaf. I tell my coworkers to grow a pair and say no. Also I’m very clear idgaf about goals that don’t benefit me. We gotta get this place restaurant ready by three. We’re opening at three. Panic panic. I’m like the **** I care if it opens at 3 or never. I’m not an owner. If the place burns down and closes I’ll still get unemployment. If the manager has to cut some fish because I got tired and left big ****. Idgaf.

It's not like they give a **** if they over work you into serious injury down the road.

I don't know that he understands how serious his situation is and at some point he's going to have to take off work for surgery and I assume there's at least a decent chance I'll never see him again after that and might not ever even hear what happened to him if he doesn't make it. So long as nobody around him acts like he might very well be about to die he might think he'll be fine? I guess? I don't know.
Introduce him to CBD, MMS, moringa and soursop.

Sorry about your friend's cancer.

Yeah I'm kinda the same way but fast food is so understaffed that if I don't do my job no one will and a co-worker will have to get screwed. I don't give a **** about BK but I give a **** if a co-worker will get screwed if I don't do a thing. Technically the night crew should do some of the restock **** I do every morning but that's never happened and if I don't the next shift will have to do it in the middle of lunch so I do it to not screw them over.

I don't give a **** about our drive thru time, if certain desirable things are met, if the breakfast waste is out of whack cause I stole a pound of fried pork, but if my relief has to refill ketchup bottles in the middle of a rush cause I didn't do it then I'd feel ****ty.

Dropped my 50 gallon gas tank today to replace the fuel pump filter on the inside. Tank had about a half a tank of gas in it. We did this on the ground, without a lift, with a jack, a plank of wood, a couple ratchet straps, and an arsenal of tools. Whole process took 6 hours because our driveway is at a 120 degree angle. Also, because my car is pretty ****ing old and used to belong to a fisherman, so the underneath of it is pretty dirty. Definitely a pain in the ass, but I've done much worse. Just time consuming. We did this with a transmission once or twice in some older vehicles on the same driveway and THAT was a mother****er of a job.

Out of curiousity, why not just not do the restocking except for what you have to do. Not do the nightshifts, just do the part you have to do. Because you are doing the nightshift's job so there is no point for them to ever do it. And if the next shift has to do it in the middle of lunch and they blame you, you can point out that it is the nightshift's job and you won't do their job anymore. You won't make any friends out of it, but if you aren't getting paid for it, you shouldn't do it. Since you'll end up just doing more and more work and someone will just do less and less for the same pay.

And yes, I have worked fast food but this applies to all jobs.

I mean it's just two things I do and have done for three years and nothing has been added. I mean I used to not do the things but then I got told to start doing the things so I do the things.

Not many ways to interpret a thing they didn't do.
