stop being a knob (nob?-idk] oh I like the bracket parentheses move

Stop being a bellend and enjoy people and then they’ll like you and you won’t pick up on them not liking you because they will like you and you won’t have to pull a preemptive rejection to protect your tender innards

Old friend OD'd on Monday. Just found out about it today. Good kid. Loved music. Had a band. Would always ask me if I got any disco records that he could use for DJ sets. Ran an open mic in Brooklyn. Last time I saw him he asked me to read Fitzgerald's "On Booze" and discuss it with him so I did in about 30 minutes and we laughed talking about it while having a few beers. He'll be missed. F*cking drugs man...

Do they like you as in casually want to hang with you, or genuine affection though? I think OH is kinda right in that a sincere bond of affection is only possible if you like them back, and there is nothing like it

I think so but I'm not entirely sure. He had an issue with cocaine but he told us he stopped. This was a while ago. I still don't have all the info.

I finally reached a point where if I got wind that someone ever used heroin even once I wouldn’t have anything to do with them because I got so tired of my friends dropping dead. And also because junkies can’t be saved and even recovering junkies are still damaged years clean. There’s an occasional exception but it’s so rare I don’t really care to give the person the benefit of the doubt. I’ve softened on that a little because I’m ****ed up too and working in a hot ass kitchen you see some amazing **** good and bad. Still though it’s a red flag. Too much pain.

drop your agenda and be a goddamn human

@ Elph That doesn't sound like a bad way to start friendships. I'd like to have a posse, my friends are very dear to me but many of them have different interests and tastes

Edit: unless you create a situation that is forced/unnatural

I reached that point too. Then my brother made a huge turn around and it made me realize people can do it. He had an incredible amount of emotional and financial support from my parents though. Not sure if he would have been able to do it without them. Still, I know where you're coming from. Keeping distance is fine but I still care about my junkie friends.
