I hope it will be a dumpster fire so that you will have some funny stories to tell.

I've considered doing that here, though I haven't yet. I suspect that dissonant bass drone/ambient probably wouldn't go over well with the general of the southeastern U.S. country populace of this countryside bypass town...Although, admittedly, I do kind of want to do it just to see the reaction I'd get out of it. Good luck Exo! You never know what you're gonna get at those things...

I ran one for a year. I hated doing it after a few months, but I paid off my PA system.

Host duties may or may not include:
  • Make flyers with date/time/place as well as create FB event and invites
  • Show up early
  • Set up PA system
  • Set out sign up list
  • Go by order of sign ups (you get there late you go on late)
  • Be strict on the time limit (usually 10 minutes or so depending on participation)
  • Have a few jokes ready for in between performers
  • Thank each performer after their set/introduce the next one
  • Smile
  • Break down PA system
  • Collect cash

You'll get a lot of people wanting you to play favorites, add extra time, etc. Don't do it.

I may have left out things... it's been a while, but thats the way I ran it anyway. Good luck.

Today one of my co-workers actively decided to be obnoxiously cheerful all ****ing day and there was a direct relationship between her chirpiness and my own desire to stick my head in the fryer.

Lucem Ferre 01-18-2019 07:29 PM

Why does other peoples' happiness upset you so much?

The Batlord 01-18-2019 07:39 PM

It was contrived, tedious cheerfulness with a grating tone of voice I had to hear in my ear every single time she took an order in drive-thru because I wear a headset that hears everything being said in drive-thru. If you knew the bitch you'd understand.

Sounds like phony and forced positivity which is always annoying.

The Batlord 01-18-2019 07:50 PM

Yes. That is exactly what it was to an extent that was ****ing weird.
