Other governments probably don't have backdoors to the network like the U.S. does [since the U.S. military created it]. And most people are probably unaware that it was created by the military. Also, it is great software that keeps your s hit more private than a regular web browser does. Like I said, you shouldn't expect any privacy while using any electronic device or digital service. But some protection is better than none, as TOR protects from unwanted third-parties.

You can access illegal s hit on the regular internet, but it is policed much more vigorously than the TOR network.
