I had an absolutely incredible day. I've worked every weekend this year but took vacation time today and spent the day on adventures at an antique mall, brunch, the city's largest annual record show, a coffeehouse, and other outings with two fellow collector friends - our first meetup together.
I mentioned the genres I was looking for to a few vendors at the show and they promised I would never find a single disc of any of it in Buffalo.
My friends had such a great time that they invited me to take my first trip out of the country with them to hit up Toronto for a day before the weather turns.
I posted to a regional vinyl community on Facebook asking for recommendations for record shops which might cater to my interests, and mentioned the genres I was after. I was amazed by the response. There are apparently half a dozen shops in downtown Toronto that I need to check out.
We may be able to coordinate our trip to coincide with a record show date as well. Someone shared the calendar for the coming fall. I still have a week of vacation time to burn so this is just the opportunity I was waiting for.
Definitely the most rewarding day of my year so far.
