Sounds like Jew talk tbh.

I didn't say that. Based on his writings here Bat's a very smart guy. But he's admitted that he lacks any motivation to better himself, i.e., work towards getting a better job (more $$$). Instead he goes off on me because I don't agree with tipping in fast food places - like it's my responsibility to put a little extra cash in his pocket.

There's lots of low paying jobs out there. What's next? Should we start tipping at Target? Pet Smart? The supermarket? Barnes and Noble? The gas station?

I did my time working for **** pay. Instead of bitching about it I busted my ass and took some night courses to start moving up the ladder. It's not my fault if he lacks the determination to do the same.

Not sure how it is elsewhere, but it seems like everyone is hiring right now around here. Pretty sure some are paying better than minimum. You actively filling out applications Bat to see if you can land something better for yourself?

Because 1970s = late 2010s

Not sure how you can accuse him of being selfish in this argument when you started it off by being offended at the prospect of tipping someone in a context that you're not used to.

Classic cherry picking (again) Frowny. He's admitted he lacks motivation - that's not my fault.

Classic unreliable anecdotal evidence (again) Chula.

Nobody ever said that it was your fault. Maybe if you didn't take everything so personally, you would be able to understand other people's posts better. You might even avoid a lot of these dumb arguments.

I agree that tipping is silly but that is probably cos its not a thing here but I don't agree with the Tory-esque "work harder" comments.

Your attitude toward me specifically isn't the issue. It's your sneering elitism towards everybody in my position.

Tips are suppose to be about service. Punching a few keys on a screen is not exactly service. Same thing is happening when you order take out online.

You don't come to us for lavish service. You come to us for speed, convenience, and cheapness, things you don't get at other restaurants. We give you that. If you don't value that then we shouldn't be obligated to wait on you any more than anyone should have to do something for someone who doesn't appreciate them.

You're siding with corporations against workers now? Anyone who doesn't like it should get another job and the rest deserve their fate? This is not the talk of a liberal. This is the talk of conservative who phones in his liberalism cause he lives in California.

I gladly pay 20% tips if I have someone waiting on my table and keeping my water glass full, getting me extra butter or bread if I want it, grating black pepper and parm cheese, etc. on my food - at my table.

Tipping for a god damn whopper junior is ****ing insanity.

You want tips? Put on an apron and wait tables.
Yeah see this right here is super entitled and just makes you sound like a yuppie who enjoys a fantasy of being a landed noble with servants who jump at his every beck and call. Why would anyone be so keen on someone grating their pepper and cheese? Are you six? Is the waitress your mother? You can't do that **** yourself? I know it's a thing but I'd feel weird in that position, like I was committing some kind of crime by elevating myself so above another human being that it was right that they should grate my ****ing parmesan. And yet not only are you totally comfortable with this but it's one of the key things you expect and demand of anyone who wants your 20%.

How does one better themselves and move up the wage scale in your world view?

No **** Sherlock.

I walk into a FF joint and they have a menu on the wall with prices for each item. I pay the price listed. This makes me a conservative corporation cad? That's quite the stretch Bat.

Because in some places you don't have a choice. The waiter brings your meal and then pulls a pepper grinder and/or cheese grater out and asks if you'd like some. I answer yes because I like pepper and cheese. That's just the way it works sometimes - they don't leave those items on the table. You have to be "served" them. You gonna blame me for that too?
