You were talking about safe spaces at school but who really knows I guess. Anyway, this has become a circle jerk.

The culture of bitching about safe spaces in general is a circle jerk.

The last time I got a speeding ticket, I decided to challenge it in court. No lawyer needed. I went to the courthouse on the date that was given to me and was asked to meet privately with the cop that wrote the ticket and his supervisor. They asked me to tell my side of the story and afterwards they said "we'll lower the fine from $230 to $50 if you agree to pay it or you can go before the judge and we'll ask for the full $230 if you're found guilty." I was prepared to challenge the ticket in court on a technicality (even though I knew I was guilty) but at that point I figured I'd just pay the lowered fine and not waste any more of my time at the courthouse. The best part was that It never showed up on my record so my insurance wasn't affected.

The replacement AC unit will take another week so I'll be driving around in the scorching heat for the next week.

And I'm out the full $2,000 as the car only came with a 90-day warranty.

Not the best day. Canceling my plans to order SotL vinyl.
Dealerships are always the most expensive option for repairs. Unless the car is still covered by the dealer's warranty, I'd get a second opinion from an independent garage or mechanic. It could save you a significant amount of $.
Also, it's worth spending a few bucks on a code reader so you can get an idea of what's wrong with your vehicle beforehand. You can get a decent one for under $100 these days. I always have one in my glove compartment.

I was going 78 in a 55mph zone. 2am on a weekday with nobody else in sight. The cop was hiding by the side of a building next to the highway. I noticed his cruiser out of the corner of my eye as soon as I went past him. Too bad he wasn't sleeping at the time.

I got a ticket for 105mph in a 45mph zone a long time ago while on a beer run for a party at a farm out in the middle of nowhere. About 3 or 4 squads finally caught up to me just as I was about to pull in the long driveway to the farmhouse. I was cooperative and cops were a lot different back then in the early 90's, but I did have some pull since I knew someone who was a high level officer. They took the beer and handed me a ticket. Iirc it was about a $200.00 fine that I paid at some podunk makeshift courthouse.

The rush of that chase was ****ing awesome though. There was one road that crossed over a 4-way intersection and the crossroad pavement served as a ramp that hurtled my little Honda Prelude into a 20-30 foot jump. This was before the police were even after me. I was a nut. The one guy that was in the car with me went to prison for grand theft a few years after that, but ****, I was just at his house last night glow golfing.

Then, there's the story's about that farm house. Like the time we all had a smash-up derby with our cars then drove them into the huge bonfire we had cooking in the middle of "the back 40". The kid that owned it, he used to eat light bulbs.
