That just means that you were raised as a Catholic. If you leave the religion you don't have to consider yourself a part of it. Unless the Irish government documents baptisms, you're good as far as a census goes. I was christened myself as a child, my family is Christian, but I'm not a Christian. Does that make sense?

And I'm sure that your parents would be more disappointed by you not practicing Catholicism than saying it out loud.

tl;dr You don't have to believe to be a Catholic. Ask any random Irish person.
Ask any random American and you'll hear a lot of stupid ****. I assume that most places are similar.

Death to dumb tribalism.

They do. I can get my Baptismal Certificate if I need it.

To be perfectly honest, and I know you don't know me enough to talk about my parents but anyway, my mam would be happier that I was looking after Karen, being more of a Christian/Catholic in what matters than in how many dumb masses I go to. Or don't. Or how many pictures of Jesus I have on my walls. Or don't.

Note: if I was still sigging, your "tenants of Catholicism" post would be there in a heartbeat.

I know that the churches usually have a certificate, but the government really records it? Damn. Can you tell them that you're a Catholic without the certificate?

That's fine man. I would call that just being a good person instead of being a Catholic.

No, he's gotten laid way too much to be an Incel. Typically my friends, him included, are more liberal minded and left leaning. He has a victim fetish though.

He also told me that comic writers were leaving because Marvel was forcing diversity in their comics. Blatantly false. A lot of well known ones leave because they want creative control of their ideas. Or they want to work on their own character rather than somebody else's. This idea is being shoved down people's throats by an indie artist named Richard Meyer who has never worked for Marvel. He's accused half the staff of being pedophiles, accuses most of the women of getting hired only their looks or for diversifying the staff rather than merit, said that one sucked dick for her position despite lacking proof, and called one of the writers a ***got. My friend name dropped him as an insider when he's not. The only insider that reflects these sentiments that diversity is killing the industry is an artist named Jon Malin who is an open republican that has worked with Jordan Peterson. From what I see Marvel has never tried to censor him or his work other than the one time there was an outcry from fans over him putting in X-Men character in an outfit where her tits barely fit and were bursting out. Other than that it seems more like he just doesn't want liberals to have a platform.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Art Is Dead. Buy My ****.

Well obviously you can just write it on the census. Whether they go to the trouble of confirming I really don't know. I can't remember, but I think possibly the only thing you need a baptismal cert may be for proving your lineage/parentage or else if you want to change your name legally? Might also be something to do with your Communion and/or Confirmation. Probably needed it for those I guess. And maybe if I were to get married. Who knows?

Oh, and for when you want to avoid the hordes of Catholic-hunting proddys on horseback of course. Bloody nuisance, they are.

Yeah so would I, which is why I'm not that bothered that she might know I'm not a practicing Catholic, but even so out of respect for her I would never seek to legally change my religion. Well, I can't foresee any reason that I would do so. Sort of like being a member of one of those old video clubs I guess. Means nothing but you're still a member. Maybe. Religion is stupid anyway. Especially in Ireland.

There's more to Ireland than religion.
