I'm a fry guy for life but higher end onion rings are enough to make my eyes wander. Burger King though has pleb onion rings that lose mass in a fry carton due to all the empty volume in the middle of the rings and I ain't losing none o' that decadent trans fat.

I have done this a few times and there's really no way to explain it to your work. Just say it was an emergency since technically it was, and you'll be fine. Or you can try being straight up with them and see if they are sensitive to it or not.
