I havent seen any science on it but i think its a reasonable hypothesis that our bodies may not have fully evolved from the adaptations of when we were hunter gatherers and didnt have kitchens.

From what I've looked up it seems potentially reasonable for weight loss but also potentially not reasonable for other reasons and it all depends on the way your own body functions. It certainly doesn't sound like the entire human race necessarily needs to drop what they're doing and pick this up though, especially if you're a child, elderly, or otherwise not a physically fit adult.

I think the weight loss portion of it is the worst justification. Calorie restriction of any kind does that. If youre not fasting for the other supposed benefits you should probably just eat healthier and less.

you dont do from a 3 meal diet to a one meal right away. ya start with a two meal on a 8 hour and then one meal on a 4 hour and then maybe a one meal and thats it after a while
