Walking my dog

neighbor: finally this ******* cleaned up his yard
me: huh?
neighbor: you didn’t notice? code enforcement made him clean that **** up
me: oh
neighbor: don’t you remember all that **** he had out here
me: I guess I didn’t notice
neighbor: do you ever even look around when you come outside
me: uh
neighbor: did you see all that trash
me: I don’t remember. Did he put it out for garbage collection
neighbor: finally
me: that’s good that they took it
neighbor: that’s why we pay taxes!
me: some cities don’t take oversized garbage for free
neighbor: they just leave it on the road?!?!?
me: most places will charge a penalty if they catch you dumping large items on the side walk
neighbor (with sarcastic disgust- slow southern drawl): most places!
me: catch you later
neighbor: later

Been hesitant to post this but, what the hell.

Linda and I are discussing staying married - but not living together. We both are very happy in our new places and we're getting along better now than we have in many, many years. Our time together, whether in person or on the phone, is quality. We don't get on each other's nerves all the time like we did before we split up. All we do now is help each other out and make each other laugh. I'm spending the day with her and the pets tomorrow. She's treating me to a Father's Day lunch.

The three big reasons we'd like to stay married are:

1. Financial - the government and IRS like people who are married.
2. Social - all of our family and friends would love if we stayed together.
3. Psychological - we're still in love and never want to use the word EX.

Finger's crossed.

If you guys still love each other, nothing else matters at this point. Anything extra is a benefit. Hope things go well for ya.

Is this about how your neighbor is kind of a douche or is this more of a teaching moment?
