Just put OH on ignore. Problem solved.

Anyway, I just woke up and found that a windstorm caused a power outage. Luckily it doesn't seem like it'll be out for more than an hour. I'm cranky without the ability to have my coffee.

My evidence that it’s not a melodramatic stretch is that junkiedom is devastating rich communities. You rieach the culmination of capitalistic achievement to discover heroin has more to offer. Or a ****ing noose. So yeah, even fully realized, the American Dream is **** and striving to achieve it is a pathetic waste of time. The poor hate being poor and that’s no surprise. But after a while the rich hate being rich. And poverty and wealth are both symptoms of capitalism and capitalism is a man made construct we don’t even have to accept.

There's a hell of a large space between rich and poor. I'm not rich nor poor but I've lived the American Dream. Worked my ass of my entire life to advance my career and income. Owned a home. Raised two great kids. Spent nearly 40 years with the same woman and we're remaining good friends. Right now I'm sitting in a paid for brand new RV in a beautiful area of San Diego country. I only have to work part time - from home. And I hope to retire in 4 years.

I'm far from rich but I can get by on very little money cause everything's paid off and I'm down to only a few bills a month.

Not a waste of time from where I sit. Are you this cynical and miserable to be around in real life too?

OccultHawk 06-10-2018 10:11 AM

Dude

What was it? Three weeks ago you were taken against your will and put on suicide watch...

Proof’s in the pudding. Your fam cozied up with you in the Winnebago or you by yourself?

Suicide is so weird for me.. on one hand I'm really sad because he seemed to be doing really well lately (he had really extreme ptsd after serving in Afghanistan and ended up in solitary confinement for a year and a half after attacking a family friend with a shovel) but on the other I'm genuinely glad he finally found some peace. Dont ever stop checking on your friends. Here's to Milo

So sorry Steph.

Plenty of things are not worth the effort, but only winning at a huge cost is a pyrrhic victory. If you climb Everest and lose limbs because of frostbite, that's pyrrhic, but I don't imagine that many pro-sports victories are really pyrrhic. In most of them I imagine you come off unscathed and have a trophy to put on your mantlepiece. Even if the trophy wasn't worth the effort, it doesn't make it a pyrrhic victory imo - a better term for that circumstance might be "waste of time".

Whatever OH is on about if you end up one of those linemen in American football who've operated physically at a level that the human body is simply not built to handle and end up dying of heart failure at 50, or a boxer with severe head trauma from all the concussions, then "Pyrrhic" might be valid.

Went on a massive bender. It happens.

Both my kids are in their 30s and out on their own now. And Linda's only a 15 minute drive away. We can't be under the same roof 24/7 anymore. We were going to turn into two old people that didn't like each other.

I like where I'm at. Got the ultimate man cave and I now have neighbors on all sides of me. And they're all older with no kids so it's nice and quiet.

Really sorry, Steph, but it's good you can see the, sort of, positive side of it. Sorry if that sounded stupid. It did. Sorry.

How do you continue to live with such an attitude? I'm not advocating it or doing the #KillYourself, but what makes life worth living for you? You seem to hate just about everything. Kind of like a much older elph.

And what have you done with yours? Remember that quote I made for you?
