He was an hour and a half away and I was sitting groggy with tears in my eyes still holding my phone not knowing if I was dreaming or if this was really happening. I snapped back into reality and headed out into the night heading for my Dad, hoping I'd make it in time. I was about 1/3rd of the way there when I got the next call. He had passed. When I got there, some of the family had been waiting for me to intercept and console my broken heart as I made my way to his hospital room. I broke down. I am utterly destroyed.
Really sorry to hear that. I don't have any words to say because I haven't been through this so I don't know how it feels, but I wanted to comment and say my heart goes out to you and your family.

Look after yourself and your family and stay strong mate x

Plank

I know we really don’t know each other on here but my feeling about your personality is that you’re the type to love his family so much something like this will be even extra painful but I also think you have the strength and resiliency to handle it.

Maybe that goes without saying, but that’s what I wanted to say.

Thank you, gentlemen.

When I first started learning full songs, I remember finishing up playing along to Hallowed Be Thy Name and hearing clapping behind me. I turned around and there was my Dad standing in the doorway of my room with a huge smile on his face. I asked him how long he'd been there and he said "Long enough" as he gave me a nod and walked down the hall. His pride in seeing my accomplishment was very evident. Playing my guitar now brings back those memories mostly, which is something I cherish.

I appreciate that. Nothing can prepare you for something like this, but having family and friends as close as the ones around me right now definitely helps.

I don't want to hijack the thread with all this any more than it is, so I'll just say thank you again for all the outreach, from the bottom of my heart. It really means a lot.

So, today I hopefully find out whats wrong with my Jeep. I took it in yesterday for transmission problems and they gave me a little Jeep Renegade to beat around in. I hate it. Give me my Cherokee back!

I had a thirty minute conversation over text with my mom last night, I sent her a bunch of photos and links to news articles. The thing is, these messages were sent around 11pm and I was asleep in bed by 9:30. I have no recollection of any of this. At all. Thank god herself none of the photos were inappropriate. Checking all my carbon monoxide detectors as soon as I get home from work.

Plank, somewhat similar dad/guitar story (which I've probably told before). My dad really frowned upon rock music and didn't think it required any real proficiency so he never took my playing serious. (he was a big Chet Atkins fan). When I was 17 I went out and bought the sheet music for Handel's "Air in G" (he was also a big classical fan) and spent a week painstakingly transcribing it to tab. Took another couple of weeks to learn and memorize the entire piece.

Went over to my dad's place and played it for him (nailed it BTW). When I was done I looked up at him and his jaw was dropped. He took me serious from that day on.
