Maybe you don't know how to feel, Chula, or maybe you just realized that losing all of that wasn't as bad as you thought it'd be. Maybe it feels good to let go of the stress of losing those things. Maybe those things never really made you happy and you realize that nothing has really changed. Or maybe you're chemically imbalanced.

As somebody who has seen his worst fears come true over and over again in life, I can tell you that sometimes that's just how it works. You lose so much and you know you should feel devastated but you just don't. Maybe neither of them know what it's like to face hard times, or maybe they're just petty enough to take any opportunity they can to kick you while you're down. This is why you should typically avoid bringing personal stuff on to the internet. The people who don't like you are much quicker to rub it in your face when they don't have to do it to your face, when they don't have to realize there's an actual human behind that screen name.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Art Is Dead. Buy My ****.

And sometimes they have a haircut so bad that reality just straight up refuses to accept it, and replaces it with a hole to the eternal void from which demonic tendrils oft protrude.

So why am I so chill about it all? I'm also happy, relieved, and even very excited about what's around the corner.

I feel like a walking cliche about mid-life changes.
I don't know if it applies to you, but sometimes all that stuff that people have (possessions and responsibilities) can be like chains. Pocket philosophy, perhaps, but I believe there's something to it.
You could put it like this: I don't think your average buddhist monk is unhappy.

Totally applies. Realizing it has just been a bit of a mind ****.

Shameless.....

Linda rented a van and drove in from Tucson yesterday. We met at the old house so she could pick up a TV and large painting we had, and also go through some stuff that I'd put aside while I cleaned out the place the past couple weeks. Didn't know what the vibe would be like between us but it ended up being same ole, same ole - in the good way.

When it was time to leave it got a tiny bit awkward until I looked her straight in the eye and spread my arms wide. She fell in and we gave each other a nice long, very firm hug. It's all good.
