Kind of am already doing that. I already said that I don't think that they deserve what's inflicted on them yet they shouldn't be supported for being willing to inflict those horrors. You don't want war? You have to strip away the fetishism of troops first.

I figured that's what you were saying, but with OH in the mix it kind of needs to be spelled out.

Every war drums up a ****ing reason.

It partially is. It doesn't make the human race look any better for being morons, but it is an excuse for not treating them as villains when they were just people being people.

People are ****.

I’m not going to show any compassion for veterans because I think every thing about war needs to be stigmatized. I stand with those who spit on them when they returned. The spitters were the heros. Hopefully someday there’s so much spit no one joins the next one.

How do you judge that? By morality invented by evolution to make it possible for us to cooperate? Morality is an illusion at worst, and at best it is as malleable as it needs to be to allow civilizations to do what they feel needs to be done regardless of morality. Humans aren't good or bad, they're as morally neutral as rocks.

Bruh, the same people who stayed at home and didn't fight in whatever war could have easily fought in that war. The people who spit on veterans probably are no better than the people they spit on, and if they see themselves differently than it's probably only because they have the good fortune to indulge their own self-righteousness having not had to make any hard decisions.

Better to just see the warfaring population as no different than the civilians, because they probably are no different.

The change in the cult mindset has to start somewhere.

Yes, I understand that to be true. I accept that as true. But not pretending it isn’t true is beyond me. I can’t remember the name of the book but the Japanese author Kobo Abe wrote a story about a man who literally turns to wood kind of like Kafka but quite a few steps weirder. But the message was about coming to terms with what you’re talking about.

This book:

Also deals with that ****. Understanding that truth is one thing but living outside the illusion would make me totally dysfunctional. That **** doesn’t just **** with big questions like war but warps out everything. Maybe it’s somewhere I need to go but I don’t want to end up like the dude in Knut Hamsun’s Hunger.

Yes but those illusions apply to everything and I have to play a role like everyone else.

Man oh man oh man......

Frowny and Hawk, how do you feel about America's aggressive involvement in WWII?

Germany, Italy, and Russia were in the process of taking over Europe and Japan had just bombed the United States.

How do you feel about WWII veterans? Should they have been spat upon?
