Surely you would need to get it to a high temperature inside to ensure it's safe meaning it would be cooked anyway and not rare?

I've been eating rare burgers for years and never gotten sick or heard of anyone I know getting sick. It's not like you're undercooking chicken.

in canada you just order a burger, there’s no asking how you want it cooked. at least not at any restaurants i’ve been to. happens everywhere in the US.

Why the **** wouldn't you want more options on how to make your food? The differences between rare, medium, and well done are pretty significant. Canada just sucks at burgers.
