Studio bill = using a pro studio. Not that they didn't put a lot of work into it or write down the songs they stole first, of course.

and I'm a big fan of XXXTentacion and he's never had a studio quality release. Some people can make it work, most people can't. Kinda need an ear for knowing when to use it to your advantage.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

Yep. DIY or studio aren't inherently positive or negative, it's what you do with them.

Don't forget that post-punk was born out of innovative recording techniques in the studio, elph.

Getting a crisp and clear sound is really ****ing hard. People under appreciate a good engineer.

Being as how I only record my vocals in a studio and do everything else at home I'm still DIY. I just prefer crisp clear vocals over ****ty recordings that are hard to work with.

Most people aren't gifted so for most people it does.

Not sure how this equates to high-quality production being a bad thing. The song is the burger and the good production value is the cheese. Sure you can make it work without the cheese but generally it will help. Sometimes the burger is all you need, sometimes you put too much cheese on it and the burger is lost in the madness, hopefully you balance it well like a good chef. This has been analogy hour with Frownland.

Yes, but you can't consistently accidentally make dope music unless you are just gifted. Thus their one little project will become a flash in the pan compared to people that put forth effort to consistently create good music. And I mean good by conventional standards not the good out of your I enjoy **** out of the novelty of it being unconventional standards.

If you're making dope music it's generally dope in both lo and hi-fi

We're not talking about audio quality, he's talking about effort put into it. He thinks people make careers out of effortless accidents.

Edit: You're confusing the word 'professional' with 'conventional' elph.
