I love both of my jobs and I'm finally putting some money away. I swear I've seen more money this month than the entire rest of the year trying to scrape it together from odd jobs. Saw Arcade Fire a couple of weeks ago and that was an amazing experience despite them touring a ****ty album. My mother had a biopsy recently for a lump in her armpit that is apparently NOT cancerous, which is great 'cuz I can finally unclench after a month of twiddling my thumbs. It seems to be some kind of spurious bone fragments though. It's quite painful for her and the first specialist she saw said they were not qualified to remove something like that surgically. So that kinda sucks. Fingers crossed she can get it removed and I can stop worrying about her. Other than that, yeah. Things are good.

That one especially is cause for celebration. Sure, there's still a problem, but its not cancer. That's great!

Great to hear, Ped. Hope things continue to go your way. Best to your mother.

Cats often go off for days and end up coming back. I wouldn't lose hope after one night.

Yes. But apparently they company doesn't use the chip to geo-locate and find your lost pet. They just have veterinarians and shelters scan all animals they come across for a chip and log that chip number to see if it is one on the list of missing pets. So, basically, $90 down the drain.

Old school: Posters/flyers/Facebook? Anyone seen my cat? It works sometimes.

Also, try opening a can of fish or something and leaving it at the door, and he or she may smell it and come back. Cats are led by their stomachs. Best of luck.

Lots of private citizens have scanners too. We have one. My wife signed up to a local lost pet network. She gets calls now and then from folks that have come across one. They bring it by and she scans it. Her success rate at reuniting a chipped pet with it's owner is about 90%!

That gives me a bit more hope at least. Thanks for the good info!

Spending the weekend with my son. Sold another original article that I wrote. Thinking of investing in space on an offshore server to host my website [specifically, in Icleland], but I'm not sure how much space I will need. I can see how much space my current site is using, but it is very little b/c I am purposely hosting the media on third-party sites [60+ GB worth]. Might keep the same setup, but it is a pain having to constantly re-upload media that gets wiped. I won't be able to afford 60 GB of space on a server though.

A mutual friend put me in touch with Barret Brown. Hadn't heard of his 'Pursuance Project' before.

Ugh, yeah... There's this couple - some friends of my parents... They were both big smokers. The wife got cancer five years ago and had a lung removed. It completely ruined her life as she can barely participate in anything. Her husband continued smoking like a chimney, even though it's obviously what caused his wife's cancer - not to mention how she's got difficulty breathing and it just sort of seems unfair to her. Just this year, he's had a tumor found in his brain and he's going to die within a year, leaving his sick wife alone. I don't know if that's from smoking too... but it just seems so pointless. Your wife is in hell and she needs you - quit while you still can! But no...

Anyway, I don't think sob stories help people to stop smoking. There's a million of them if anyone was interested.

Damn non-smokers. I hope she falls asleep in your domicile with a lit cigarette.
