Our beloved company dog has cancer which also results in some kind of inflammation.
Asked my boss how the dog was doing today and she told me about how the vet wanted to prescribe antibiotics but she declined and is going to have him treated with homeopathic "medicine".
Just politely nodding and walking away might have been the most willpower I've ever exercised.

You should have asked "bottled or tap?"

You should stop by the local New Age crackpot shop and get her an assortment of crystals and insect body parts.

It's ****ed up how many relatively sane, non-new-agey people believe this ****.
Poor dog. He can't even benefit from the placebo effect.

I never heard of a company dog before. Nice idea. What breed is he? But why are they refusing to get the antibiotics for him? Money? Surely if everyone in the company kicked in...?

He's saying that they're forgoing antibiotics for homeopathic treatments, which likely cost the same price as actual medicine despite just being water.

It's just out boss's dog who roams freely about, looking for snacks, lying down to sleep wherever the **** he wants. Really livens up the place.
I think it's a mixed breed, but there's a lot of labrador in there.

And yeah, what Frown said.

It's happening here now, but on a much smaller scale:

The forest I used to do fieldwork in has about 1000 acres on fire.. I smelt in from my house this morning which is about 40 minutes away.

OK, well that makes no sense if they cost the same. Idiots.
